ABOUT US

F.C. Rangers J.F.C. began life as R.A.O.B. Rangers based at the R.A.O.B. in Layton. It was formed by our Honorary Life Chairman Malcolm Richardson along with Harry Stanley and his wife Mary. From that start, the club grew year by year, from one team in 1970/71, to five teams in 1976/77. That first team actually won the Lancashire F.A. Under 16 trophy in season 1975/76 despite having to play the whole season in the open age section as there was no Under 16 league for them to compete in that season. That same season saw a name change for one season only to Poulton Rangers, a move which for various reasons didn't work out, and the following year the name was changed to the current title of F.C. Rangers, the name being derived from the fact that British teams playing in Europe, no matter what their correct title, always had the letters F.C. before their name in the foreign press. The club colours were taken from the playing strip of Inter Milan, who had an unusual blend of blue and black in their strip. The next few seasons saw the stabilisation of the club, with more teams being formed at Under 9 and Under 10 level throughout the area. The club continued to grow and weathered some very rough periods during the early 80's but came out of this much stronger for the experience with everybody working together for a common cause, that being F.C. Rangers. The following years saw the club managing to win the odd League and the Hogan Cup, and also travelling abroad every other year to meet up with our twin club Vfb Kirchhellen in Bottrop. Throughout the nineties and up to the present day we continue to provide football to many hundreds of players in and around the Layton area, even producing a few professional players along the way. We are proud of what has been achieved over the years and hope to continue for many years to come!

The F.C.Rangers club badge was first introduced in 1978 and incorporates our twin town football team badges of SV Vonderort and Vfb Kirchhellen from former West Germany.

The black cross represents SV Vonderort from Bottrop and the three wolf hooks are from the Kirchhellen badge.The two blue waves denote the seaside aspect of Blackpool.

The badge was simplified 3 seasons ago to remove the parts of it that were related to our twin club etc.
With the present infrastructure and with the present plans for our own clubhouse [ long overdue after 40 years ] and a floodlit muga, 2 permanent 7 a side pitches etc we hope the club will be around for another 40 years.
